Sometimes a vehicle may have a valve body problem, a fluid issue, an electrical issue, a leak, a seal problem, a pan gasket problem or another condition that can make the transmission seem worse than it is. Before recommending major transmission work, we check the vehicle and look for other possible causes.
One of the first things we look at is the transmission fluid. Low transmission fluid, dirty fluid or a leak can cause slipping, delayed shifting, overheating and other symptoms that make a driver think the transmission is failing. When the problem is something simple, we are happy to tell the customer the truth. There is nothing better than seeing a customer relieved because the repair is not as serious as they feared.
Vince Capcino Transmissions also performs diagnostic testing to help determine what is going on before major work is recommended. If further inspection is needed, we can bring the vehicle in, put it on the lift and remove the transmission pan to check for metal and other signs of internal damage. If we find evidence that a rebuild is needed, we explain what we found and show the customer before moving forward.
When we rebuild a transmission, the work is done carefully by hand. Every nut, bolt and internal part matters. We disassemble the transmission, clean the parts, inspect the components and replace the parts that need to be replaced. Seals and O-rings must be installed properly because small mistakes can lead to leaks or future problems. Our goal is to put the transmission back together the right way, with careful attention to the details inside the unit.
